Kailakti Gr
Type Locality and Naming
Western Tianshan. The Kailakti Gr was named by Lin Baoyu et al., in 1979 and was formally published in 1985. The typical section is situated in Guozigou in Boluohuoluo Mountain in Huocheng County, Xinjiang Weiwuerzhu Zizhiqu.

Lithology and Thickness
The Group is a suite of clastic rock and tillite formations, which consists of the upward succession of the Kulutieliekti Fm (glacial), Tulasu Fm, Biexibastao Fm (glacial), Kayindi Fm, Tarqiete Fm and Talisayi Fm (glacial). It is 288 to 1091 m thick; the typical section is 590.5 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Kailakti Gr rests unconformably on the underlying Kusongmuqieke Gr (Kusumuqiek Gr) or the Songshutou Fm
Upper contact
It disconformably underlies the overlying Lower Cambrian Linkuanggou Fm. There is a weathering crust at the boundary, which is tens of centimeters to 1.5 m in thickness, with the rock color transformed from gray to bright yellow.
Regional extent
Western Tianshan. It has an east to west distribution at Boluohuoluo Mountain in Huocheng County, Xinjiang.

Microplants: Leiopsophosphaera sp., L. solida, Trachysphaeridium incrassatum, T. simplex, Taeniatum aff. crassum etc.

Additional Information
A whole rock U-Pb age of 640 ± 33 Ma was acquired from the Tarqiat Formation of the upper part of Kailakti Group (Zhu Jiechen, 1987).
